This heart-warming and often
hilarious musical is based on Richard Harris’s award –winning play
of the same name and tells the familiar tale of a weekly, church
hall based, tap class. Presided over by ex-professional dancer,
Mavis and her acerbic pianist, Mrs. Fraser, it is frequented by
some of the most unlikely (not to mention ungainly!) individuals
imaginable, including lonely widower Geoffrey, the only man in the
class. He and his fellow pupils are all larger than life
characters who struggle, unsuccessfully, to dance. Their antics,
the situations they find themselves in and the relationships which
develop between them will make you laugh and, occasionally, will
make you want to cry. When an unexpected challenge, however,
forces the class to work together as a team, they manage to
overcome all obstacles and achieve the impossible. The fabulous,
feel good ending will have you humming all the way home with a
happy smile on your face.
“Richard Harris’s play now not only taps its way into your heart,
but, beltingly, it sings its way there too.” Nigel Billen, Daily
Express
“.........one would have to be wrapped up like a mummy to resist
the syncopated rhythm of Dennis King’s tap.” Jeremy Kingston, The
